Before you start

What you need

Check these before you open the ChatGPT settings.

  • Checklist

    • A Postocial account. Start a free trial if you do not have one yet.
    • Social accounts connected in your Postocial workspace.
    • A workspace role that allows creating posts.
    • Access to developer mode in ChatGPT. OpenAI decides which plans get it, and in a managed ChatGPT workspace an admin may need to allow it.
  • Connector settings

    Name: Postocial
    MCP server URL: https://app.postocial.com/mcp
    Authentication: OAuth

Enter these values when ChatGPT asks for the connector details.

Setup

Connect Postocial to ChatGPT

Developer mode is where ChatGPT lets you add your own MCP connectors. You set it up once.

  1. Turn on developer mode

In ChatGPT, open Settings > Apps & Connectors > Advanced settings and turn on Developer mode.

  2. Create the connector

Back in Apps & Connectors, choose Create. Name it Postocial, paste https://app.postocial.com/mcp as the MCP server URL, set authentication to OAuth and tick I trust this application.

  3. Sign in to Postocial

Create the connector. ChatGPT sends you to the Postocial sign-in page: log in and choose the workspace ChatGPT should use.

  4. Use it in a chat

In a new chat, open the + menu, choose Developer mode and select Postocial. Then ask: "List my connected Postocial accounts."

Two kinds of AI help

ChatGPT connector or the AI inside Postocial?

Postocial also has a built-in AI assistant. Here is how the two differ, so you can use each where it fits.

Example prompts

Prompts to try in ChatGPT

ChatGPT can work from what you paste or upload. Tell it which accounts, when and in which time zone.

  • Check your accounts

"List my connected Postocial accounts and the network each one is on."

  • Event flyer to posts

"Here is a photo of our event flyer. Write a Facebook Page post and a Threads post about it, and save both as drafts in Postocial."

  • Spreadsheet to schedule

"I uploaded a spreadsheet of our product launches. For each row, schedule a post to our LinkedIn page at 10 a.m. Eastern on the date in that row."

  • Brainstorm, then draft

"Give me ten post ideas for our fall menu. Draft the best three as Instagram captions and save them as drafts so I can add photos."

  • Rewrite for Mastodon

"Rewrite this LinkedIn post for Mastodon, under 500 characters with two hashtags, and schedule it for tomorrow at noon UTC."

  • Last-call reminder

"Schedule a post in our Telegram channel for Friday at 5 p.m. Eastern: the sale ends at midnight, use code FALL20."

  • Plan first, then confirm

"Plan next week for our Facebook Page and LinkedIn page, one post a day. Show the plan as a table, then schedule only the rows I approve."

Abilities and limits

How ChatGPT works with your workspace

The connector gives ChatGPT the Postocial tools your role allows, inside the workspace you picked when you signed in.

  • Works from what you share: messages, images and files you upload.
  • Calls Postocial to list your accounts, draft, schedule and queue posts, add media and read your analytics, and on Premium and higher plans to work in the inbox.
  • Stays inside your workspace role, whatever the request.
  • Asks you to confirm before it runs a tool that changes something. Read the details first.

Troubleshooting

Fixes for common setup problems

Developer mode settings cause most of the trouble. Start there.

  • Developer mode is missing

Look under the advanced settings in Settings > Apps & Connectors. If it is not there, your plan or your ChatGPT workspace admin may not allow it yet.

  • There is no Create option

Create appears once developer mode is on. Turn it on, then reload ChatGPT.

  • The sign-in window closes or loops

Allow pop-ups for ChatGPT, check that you are logging in to the right Postocial account, and create the connector again with OAuth selected.

  • ChatGPT ignores Postocial

Check that developer mode and the Postocial connector are selected in the chat you are using, then mention Postocial in your request.

  • It uses the wrong workspace

Delete the connector in Settings > Apps & Connectors, create it again and choose the right workspace when you sign in.

  • An Instagram post will not schedule

Instagram needs an image or video. Check that the post has one in Postocial, or ask ChatGPT to attach one from your media library, then schedule it.

FAQ

Questions about Postocial in ChatGPT

ChatGPT is made by OpenAI. Postocial is an independent product, not affiliated with OpenAI.

Which ChatGPT plans have developer mode?

OpenAI decides that, and it can change, so check OpenAI's help center for current availability. On the Postocial side, every plan includes the MCP server.

Will ChatGPT know my Postocial password?

No. The login happens on Postocial's own sign-in page, and ChatGPT only receives access to the workspace you choose. Your social accounts stay connected to Postocial, and ChatGPT works through Postocial's tools.

Can I schedule a lot of posts at once this way?

A handful at a time works well in a chat. For big batches, Postocial has bulk posts from a CSV file and RSS campaigns, which are built for volume.

Which networks can ChatGPT work with?

Any account connected in your Postocial workspace. Postocial publishes to Instagram, Facebook Pages, TikTok, LinkedIn (profiles and pages), YouTube, X (with your own X API key), Threads, Pinterest, Google Business Profile, Bluesky, Mastodon, Reddit, Tumblr and Telegram. Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and Pinterest posts need an image or video: ChatGPT can attach one from your media library or add one from a public link. Check the media in Postocial before the post goes out.

Is the MCP server part of my Postocial plan?

Yes, on every plan, so you can try it during the free trial. A card is required to start the 7-day free trial. When the trial ends, we charge your card for the plan you picked, unless you cancel before.

Can ChatGPT see my analytics or inbox?

Yes, within your role. ChatGPT can read your analytics summary, account and post results and best times to post (there are no analytics for X, Reddit, Tumblr and Telegram). On Premium and higher plans, it can also search your contacts, read and assign conversations in the unified inbox, and send a message or an approved WhatsApp template once you confirm. Broadcasts it prepares wait for approval in Postocial, automations it builds stay drafts until someone publishes them, and assistants can send at most 60 messages an hour and reach at most 200 people a day per workspace.

How do I remove the connector?

Delete Postocial from Settings > Apps & Connectors in ChatGPT. ChatGPT can no longer use your workspace, and your drafts and scheduled posts stay in Postocial.
