Broadcasts
Broadcasts and follow-ups that respect every inbox
Pick a saved segment of contacts who opted in, write once and send now or at each contact's local time. Opted-out and blocked contacts are skipped for you, and Messenger and Instagram broadcasts reach people who messaged you in the last 24 hours.
Included in Premium and higher plans, not in Starter. Free for 7 days. Card required; cancel before the trial ends and you will not be charged.
How it works
From audience to send, one screen at a time
The broadcast wizard takes you through four steps and shows a live preview of your message.
-
Choose the audience
Send to all eligible contacts, only the active ones, a saved segment, or the people who got a past broadcast, picked by what they did with it.
-
Write the message
Pick an approved template on WhatsApp. On the other channels, write the message and add variables such as the first name. A live preview shows what people will see.
-
Schedule it
Send now or later, at one moment for everyone or at each contact's local time, so nobody hears from you at 3am.
-
Review and send
Check the message and the number of eligible contacts, then send. If your role can't send broadcasts, it goes to a teammate for approval first.
Channels
What a broadcast sends on each channel
Every channel has its own rules for messages a business starts, and broadcasts follow them. Here is what you can send and who it reaches.
| Channel | What you send | Who it reaches |
|---|---|---|
| Approved templates | Contacts who opted in | |
| Messenger | Any message | People who messaged you in the last 24 hours |
| Any message | People who messaged you in the last 24 hours | |
| SMS | Plain text through your provider | Contacts with a phone number who haven't opted out; collecting their consent is up to you |
| Telegram | Any message from your bot | People who started your bot |

Control
Stay in control of every send
Broadcasts reach many people at once, so you get checks before, during and after every send.
-
Retarget a past broadcast
Message the people from an earlier broadcast again, picked by what happened: sent, delivered, read, replied, sent but not replied, or failed.
-
Team approval
Require approval before a broadcast goes out. Teammates whose role can't send submit it, and someone who can send approves it.
-
A test send first
Send a WhatsApp broadcast to your own WhatsApp number first and read it the way your contacts will.
-
Pause, resume or cancel
Hold a broadcast that is going out, carry on later, or cancel the rest. Messages already sent stay sent.
-
Time zone check
Sending at local time? The wizard shows how many contacts have no known time zone. They get the message at that time in your workspace's time zone.
-
Eligibility checked twice
Opted-out and blocked contacts are left out when you build the audience, and again at send time, so a late opt-out still counts.
Reports
See what every broadcast did
Each broadcast gets its own report, from the first message out to the last reply, so you know what to send next time.
- A funnel from recipients to sent, delivered, opened and replied
- A delivery breakdown, with every failure and skip
- Engagement over time
- The full list of recipients
- SMS has no read receipts, so text broadcasts show no opens
Sequences
Timed follow-ups after someone joins
A sequence sends a short series of messages on Messenger and Instagram, timed from the moment a contact joins it in a flow. Use it for helpful follow-ups that fit Meta's messaging rules, not for long promotional drips.
- Contacts join through the Sequence step in a Messenger or Instagram flow
- Set the day of each message and a sending window in the contact's time zone
- Standard messages only reach people who messaged you in the last 24 hours, so short sequences work best
- Stop when someone replies takes that person out, while everyone else keeps receiving it
- Pause and resume a sequence at any time
Consent first
Built to keep your lists clean
Send broadcasts only to contacts who opted in or wrote to you first, and stop the moment someone asks. Postocial does its part by skipping everyone who opted out.
- Opted-out and blocked contacts are skipped by broadcasts, scheduled automations and the API
- A locked Unsubscribe tag, and a Suppressions list where you can unblock or resubscribe
- An unsubscribe keyword flow with the Unsubscribe step, and a Resubscribe step for people who come back
- Import only people who agreed to hear from you: never bought or scraped lists, and no cold messages
- Texts go out through your own Twilio, Plivo or SMS gateway account. You handle consent, opt-outs, quiet hours and sender registration, such as US A2P 10DLC, under the rules where your recipients live
- Meta bills WhatsApp messages to your WhatsApp Business account, and Postocial doesn't charge per message. See WhatsApp costs
FAQ
Broadcast questions
Can I send a broadcast to everyone on WhatsApp?
No. WhatsApp broadcasts go only to contacts who opted in, using a template WhatsApp approved. Marketing templates leave out contacts with no recorded opt-in, and opted-out or blocked contacts are always skipped. Meta bills WhatsApp messages to your WhatsApp Business account. The WhatsApp page covers templates and costs.
Why can't I message all my Messenger contacts?
Meta lets a business send standard messages only to people who messaged it in the last 24 hours. A Messenger or Instagram broadcast reaches those people and skips everyone else. Messenger's paid marketing messages and notification opt-ins are not available in Postocial. The 24-hour rule on Messenger and Instagram, explained.
Does Postocial charge per message?
No. Broadcasts come with messaging on Premium and higher plans, with no fee per message or per broadcast. Meta bills WhatsApp messages to your WhatsApp Business account, and your SMS provider bills each text by segment. Your plan sets how many contacts you can keep: see the plan limits.
Can a teammate approve broadcasts first?
Yes. Turn on Require team approval before sending, and the broadcast waits for approval before it goes out. Teammates whose role can't send broadcasts always submit them for approval. Team roles decide who can do what.
Can I send at each person's local time?
Yes. Choose Each contact's local time, and everyone gets the message at that hour in their own time zone. Contacts with no known time zone get it at that hour in your workspace's time zone, and the wizard shows how many there are.
What happens to people who unsubscribe?
They are tagged Unsubscribe and listed in Suppressions, and broadcasts, scheduled automations and the API skip them from then on. Eligibility is checked again at send time, so this also covers broadcasts you already scheduled. If they change their mind, a Resubscribe step opts them back in.
Can I send email broadcasts?
No. Postocial has no email channel. To email your contacts, sync the ones with an email address to a Mailchimp audience or to HubSpot, and send from there.
Send your first broadcast the right way
On Premium and higher plans, connect a channel, save a segment of contacts who opted in and schedule your first broadcast during the free trial.
