Best practices
Facebook Page best practices
Small choices that help scheduled Page posts get read, watched and shared.
- Say it in the first lines. Long posts fold behind "See more", so open with the point and the reason to keep reading.
- Shoot video vertically. Meta now shares new Facebook videos as Reels, and 9:16 fills a phone screen.
- Use 4:5 or square images. They take up more of the feed than landscape shots. Keep PNG files small, around 1 MB, to avoid visible compression.
- Keep hashtags few and specific. Facebook publishes no cap, but a short, relevant set reads better than a wall of tags.
- Center your cover photo. Facebook crops covers differently on desktop and phones, so keep text and logos in the middle.
- Characters (reported)
- 63,206
- Portrait images

- Video ratio

Facebook character limits
Field Maximum Post text (reported) 63,206 characters Comment 8,000 characters Page name 75 characters Username 50 characters About the text limit. 63,206 characters is the cap widely reported for profile and Page posts. Meta's developer docs do not state it, so treat it as a reported figure (medium confidence). Long posts collapse behind a 'See more' link in the feed. Reels published through Meta's API are limited to 30 per Page in a rolling 24 hours.
Hashtags. Hashtags work in posts, but Meta's Page publishing docs set no count limit and no official cap is published. Keep them few and specific.

FAQ
Questions about Facebook scheduling

Can Postocial post to my personal Facebook profile or to Groups?
No. Postocial publishes to Facebook Pages. Meta's API does not let scheduling tools publish to personal profiles, and Groups are not on Postocial's list of supported channels.
How long can a Facebook post be?
Very long. The widely reported cap is 63,206 characters, although Meta's developer docs do not state it. In the feed, long posts collapse behind "See more", so the opening lines matter most.
Can I schedule a Facebook livestream?
Yes, with a pre-recorded video. Upload it, schedule it as a livestream, and it streams live on your Page at the time you set. The same option exists for YouTube.
Does Postocial publish Reels and Stories to Facebook Pages?
Yes. Choose Post, Reel, Story or Livestream for each Page post. A Reel takes one video, and a Story takes one image or video.
Can Postocial answer Messenger messages automatically?
Yes, on Premium and higher plans. Give your Page a welcome message, up to 4 ice breakers and a menu, then add keyword replies or full flows. Automated messages go only to people who messaged your Page, within 24 hours of their last message, as Meta requires. Your team can take over any conversation from the inbox.
Can I add a first comment to Facebook posts?
Yes. Write the first comment in the composer and Postocial publishes it with the post. It is a good place for a link, a coupon code or a question.
What video length works on Facebook?
Meta now shares new Facebook videos as Reels. A Reel published through Meta's API has to run 3 to 90 seconds, ideally at 1080 × 1920, and video Stories are limited to 60 seconds.
Can clients approve Facebook posts before they go live?
Yes. Require approval on posts and share a calendar link with an expiry date. Your client opens the link and approves or rejects each post. See approvals and clients.
Does Postocial include Facebook Page analytics?
Yes. See results for each Page next to your other accounts, find your top posts and check the best times to post before you fill next week.
