Best practices

Google Business Profile best practices

What helps local posts look trustworthy and get accepted by Google.

  • Post regularly. A steady mix of updates, offers and events shows people the business is open and active.
  • Use a real photo. A sharp, well-lit image of at least 720 × 720 pixels, as a JPG or PNG between 10 KB and 5 MB, beats a heavily filtered one.
  • Match the button to the goal. Pick the call to action that fits, such as booking or ordering, and link to a page where people can do it.
  • Keep phone numbers out of the text. Google may reject a post if it cannot verify that the number belongs to the business.
  • Answer every review. Reply promptly and professionally, to happy and unhappy customers alike.

FAQ

Questions about Google Business Profile scheduling

Something else on your mind? Email us at hello@postocial.com.

Is Google Business Profile the same as Google My Business?

Yes. Google My Business is the old name for Google Business Profile, the listing that shows your business in Google Search and Maps.

What can I post to Google Business Profile from Postocial?

Updates, offers with coupon codes, events and posts with call-to-action buttons. Offers need a title plus dates and times, and events need a title and start and end dates.

How long can a Google Business Profile post be?

Third-party guides consistently put the limit at 1,500 characters, though Google's help pages do not give a number. Event and offer titles can be up to 58 characters.

Can I reply to Google reviews in Postocial?

Yes, on Premium and higher plans. Reviews come into the unified inbox next to your social comments, where you can assign them, add internal notes and reply with saved replies or AI-suggested replies from your own AI key.

Do hashtags work on Google Business Profile?

No. Google's posting guidance does not use hashtags. A clear first sentence, a relevant photo and the right button do more.

What photo and video sizes does Google accept?

Photos: JPG or PNG between 10 KB and 5 MB, at least 250 × 250 pixels, with 720 × 720 recommended. Videos: up to 30 seconds and 75 MB, at 720p or higher.
