What you need
- A plan with messaging: Premium, Agency or Unlimited. Payment links, store automations, Slack alerts and Google Sheets steps are part of messaging.
- Your own account with each service you connect: a Stripe, PayPal, Razorpay, Paystack, MyFatoorah or Mercado Pago account, a Shopify or WooCommerce store, a Slack workspace or a Google account.
- A channel and a flow to use them in. Build your first automation.
Take payments in the chat
A payment link lets a customer pay without leaving the conversation. Postocial creates it through your own gateway and sends it as a Pay now button, and your gateway charges its own fees. Here is what each gateway asks for:
| Gateway | What you paste in Postocial |
|---|---|
| Stripe | Secret key and webhook signing secret |
| PayPal | Client ID, client secret, sandbox or live, and webhook ID |
| Razorpay | Key ID, key secret and webhook secret |
| Paystack | Secret key |
| MyFatoorah | API token, API base URL and webhook secret key |
| Mercado Pago | Access token and webhook secret |
- Open your gateway. Open Integrations in the sidebar, choose the Payments tab, then your gateway. Its setup guide says where each key is in your gateway's dashboard.
- Copy your keys. Copy the keys from your gateway's dashboard. Use its test keys or sandbox while you build, and switch to live keys when you're ready.
- Add the webhook. At your gateway, add the webhook URL shown on the integration page, so payment updates come back to Postocial. If the form asks for a webhook secret or ID, copy it from your gateway.
- Connect. Paste the values into the form and connect. Keys are encrypted at rest and never sent back to your browser.
- Send a payment link. Add a Request Payment step to a flow, or choose Send payment link in a Unified Inbox conversation. The customer gets a Pay now button.
- Test it. From a personal account, start a conversation, send yourself a payment link and pay it with your gateway's test details.
A payment that succeeds, fails or is refunded can start an automation or a webhook, so a flow can thank the customer or follow up. Never ask customers to type card numbers, bank details or ID numbers into a chat: the payment link collects what your gateway needs.
Start automations from store orders
Connect a Shopify or WooCommerce store, and its orders, customers and products sync to Postocial. A store event, such as an order placed, paid, shipped or refunded, or an abandoned checkout, can start a flow, and flow steps can look up an order, send a product or create a discount code.
- Prepare your store. In Shopify, use a custom app for your store with Admin API access to orders, customers, products, price rules and checkouts, and protected customer data access. Postocial asks for its Admin API access token and API secret key. In WooCommerce, add a REST API key with read and write permissions under WooCommerce > Settings > Advanced > REST API. A WooCommerce store must use HTTPS.
- Connect the store. Open Integrations, choose the Commerce tab, then Shopify or WooCommerce. Enter your store URL and keys, and connect. Postocial registers the store webhooks for you, and orders, customers and products sync.
- Start a flow from a store event. In Salesbot > Automations, create a flow that starts on a store event, such as a paid order or an abandoned checkout, and add the messages it sends.
- Place a test order. Order something as a customer who already chats with you, and check that the flow runs.
Store automations message only customers who already chat with you:
- An order never adds a new contact.
- On WhatsApp, only customers who already have a conversation with your number are messaged. They are usually outside the 24-hour window, so start with an approved template.
- On Messenger and Instagram, Meta allows messages only to people who messaged your Page or account before, so store events for anyone else are skipped.
Get notified in Slack
Slack can post to one of your channels when key events happen, such as a new contact, an inbound message or a failed automation.
- In Slack, open api.slack.com/apps, create or pick an app for your workspace and turn on Incoming Webhooks. Choose Add New Webhook to Workspace and pick the Slack channel for the alerts.
- Copy the webhook URL. In Postocial, open Integrations, choose Slack and paste it.
- Choose whether events come from every messaging channel or just one, tick the events you want and save.
- Send a test notification and check that it lands in Slack.
A flow can also post to that Slack channel with a Send Slack message step.
Send rows to Google Sheets
- Open Integrations, choose Google Sheets, then Sign in with Google and allow access to your spreadsheets.
- Create a new spreadsheet, with column headers if you like, or paste the URL of one you already have.
- In a flow, add a Send to Google Sheets step. It adds a row for each contact or event that reaches it.
Those rows hold your customers' personal data, so share the spreadsheet only with people who need it. You decide what you collect, and Postocial processes it for you under our Data Processing Addendum.
