What counts toward the Telegram limit
Telegram has two limits, and which one applies depends on what you post. A text message can be up to 4,096 characters, counted after formatting such as bold and links is parsed. A caption on a photo, video or file is limited to 1,024 characters. Telegram Premium users can write longer captions in Telegram’s apps, but posts sent through a bot, which is how scheduling tools publish, stay at 1,024.
So if your post has media and the text runs past 1,024 characters, send the text as its own message. Albums group 2 to 10 photos or videos, and poll questions take up to 300 characters.
The 255-character figure is for channel and group descriptions. Personal bios are shorter: 70 characters, or 140 with Telegram Premium.
