Telegram image sizes
| Use | Size (px) | Ratio | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Photo sent via Bot API | Not fixed | Width-to-height ratio up to 20 | Up to 10 MB. Width plus height can't exceed 10,000 px. Photos sent by URL are limited to 5 MB. |
| Story photo posted by a bot | 1080 × 1920 | 9:16 | Must be exactly 1080x1920 and no larger than 10 MB. |
Which size to use
Telegram doesn’t ask for a fixed size for photos in channels and groups. It limits the file instead: photos sent through the Bot API can be up to 10 MB, width plus height can’t exceed 10,000 pixels, and one side can be at most 20 times the other. Photos sent by URL are limited to 5 MB.
Stories are the exception. A story photo posted by a bot must be exactly 1080 × 1920 and no larger than 10 MB, so use the story preset.
The general shapes in the size menu are all well within Telegram’s photo limits.

Tips for Telegram images
- Group related photos into an album of 2 to 10 items.
- Keep the caption under 1,024 characters when a bot sends the photo.
