TikTok fields that accept styled letters
TikTok has no text formatting of its own for bios or captions, but they accept Unicode symbols, so styled letters copied from here keep their look after you paste them.
The bio is tiny: 80 characters. One styled word stands out there; a fully styled bio gets hard to read fast. Display names stop at 30 characters, which leaves room for a styled name but not much else.
How styled letters count on TikTok
TikTok’s posting API counts captions in UTF-16 runes, and bold, italic, script and the other math-style letters can take two each. A styled caption therefore fills the 2,200-character limit faster than its length suggests. Small caps, circled and full-width letters take one. Hashtags and @mentions count toward the caption too.
Keep it readable for everyone
Screen readers often skip styled letters or read them as symbol names, so captions full of them are hard to follow without seeing the screen. Search usually can’t match styled letters to the plain words people type, so keep keywords and hashtags in normal letters and use styling only as decoration.
Ideas for TikTok
- One bold word in your bio for what you post: recipes, tutorials or reviews.
- Circled numbers for a quick list in a caption: ① ② ③.
- A styled sign-off line under an otherwise plain caption.
From styled draft to scheduled TikTok post
Paste your styled caption into Postocial’s composer, check it against TikTok’s limit and put it in the queue with your video. It publishes exactly as you wrote it.
Check your caption length first.
