What the AI assistant does
- Writes with you: drafts captions and hashtags from your idea, and reworks drafts you already have.
- Creates images: generates an image from a description when you don't have a visual ready.
- Suggests replies: on Premium and higher plans, with your own AI provider key connected, it suggests replies in the inbox that you edit before sending. AI replies in automations run on your own key too. Set up AI replies.
AI credits on each plan
Writing help and AI images run on your plan's monthly allowance: a number of AI credits, plus a number of AI images.
| Plan | AI credits per month | AI images per month |
|---|---|---|
| Starter | 1,000 | 50 |
| Premium | 5,000 | 200 |
| Agency | 15,000 | 500 |
| Unlimited | 15,000 | 500 |
AI replies in automations, reply suggestions in the inbox and AI Knowledge, which come with messaging on Premium and higher plans, use your own AI provider key instead of plan credits.
Need more each month? On Starter or Premium, move to a plan with a larger allowance. The largest comes with Agency and Unlimited. Plan changes are prorated. Billing and plans.
Write a caption with AI
- Start a post. Open the composer and pick the accounts you're posting to.
- Bring in the AI assistant. Open the AI writing assistant from the composer.
- Describe the post. Say what the post is about, who it is for, the tone and what you want people to do. Specific details beat adjectives.
- Review the draft. Check every fact, date, price and link. The assistant can't know what changed in your business this morning.
- Fit it to each network. Ask for a shorter version for X or Bluesky, or edit each network's version in the composer.
- Schedule it. Pick a time, or add the post to the queue.
An example prompt
Write a friendly Instagram caption for our Saturday pop-up at the Riverside market, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Mention the new oat-milk latte. Keep it under 80 words, end with a question and add five hashtags.
Why five? Instagram has said it will cap captions at five hashtags, so asking for five keeps the draft within the new rule (source: Social Media Today).
Prompts that get better drafts
- Give the facts: what, when, where, price and link.
- Name the audience: "first-time home buyers", not "everyone".
- Show the tone: paste a post you liked and ask for the same voice.
- Ask for options: three opening lines, then pick the best one.
- Say what to avoid: emoji, exclamation marks or jargon.
Generate an image
- Open AI image generation while you write the post.
- Describe the subject, setting, style and light, for example: "flat-lay photo of a latte and a croissant on a marble table, soft morning light".
- Compare the results and add the best one to your post.
Keep words out of image prompts. Text inside AI images often comes out garbled, so put it in the caption, or add it afterward in Adobe Express, which opens inside Postocial.
Use your own AI provider key
A workspace can also connect its own OpenAI, Claude, Gemini or DeepSeek key under Integrations. On Premium and higher plans, that key powers AI replies in your automations and reply suggestions in the inbox, and with OpenAI or Gemini it powers AI Knowledge too. The composer assistant and AI images keep using your plan's credits. Usage on your key is billed by the provider, under your account with them. Keep the key private, and remove it from your workspace when you stop using it. Set up AI replies and AI Knowledge.
Work from your AI assistant instead
Prefer to stay in Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or VS Code? Connect it to Postocial's MCP server. The assistant signs in, picks one workspace, and can list your accounts and draft and schedule posts. It can only do what your role allows.
