Which size to use
X takes up to four images per post, each up to 5 MB in JPG, PNG, GIF or WEBP. The post sizes here come from X’s ad creative specs: 1080 × 1080 for square, 1920 × 1080 for 16:9 landscape and 1440 × 1800 for 4:5 portrait, plus 2064 × 1080 (1.91:1), 1080 × 1920 (9:16) and 1080 × 1620 (2:3).
For your profile, the photo works at 400 × 400 (JPEG, GIF or PNG under 2 MB) and the header at 1500 × 500 (3:1).
The resizer saves still images, so it can’t make animated GIFs. X allows one GIF per post, up to 15 MB, and recommends at most 1280 × 1080 and 350 frames.
X video limits
The resizer handles still images. For video, these are the limits to plan around.

Tips for X images
- Download photos as JPG to stay under the 5 MB limit.
- Keep profile photos under 2 MB.
- Media limits follow the posting account’s subscription, not the developer API plan.
