Before you start

Your account comes with one workspace. It holds your connected accounts, posts, media library and team, so everything you set up today lands in one place. Have these ready:

  • An email address you can check now. You confirm it when you sign up.
  • A payment card. The trial needs one, and the card is charged for your plan when the trial ends unless you cancel first.
  • Access to each account you'll connect. For pages, that usually means an admin role, for example on a Facebook Page or a LinkedIn page.
  • Your own X API key, if you post to X. X is the only network that needs one. Set up X.

Every plan includes unlimited scheduled posts, within each network's own rate limits. Beyond publishing, messaging and link in bio are included on Premium and higher plans. Plans also differ by limits, such as social accounts (5 on Starter, 10 on Premium, 100 on Agency and no limit on Unlimited) and team members (2 on Starter, 5 on Premium, 10 on Agency and 10 on Unlimited). Compare plans.

Set up Postocial step by step

  1. Create your account. Sign up at app.postocial.com, confirm your email address and choose the plan you want to try during your 7-day free trial.
  2. Turn on two-factor authentication. Do it before you connect anything. A second sign-in step keeps your workspace, and the social accounts in it, safer.
  3. Connect your social accounts. Open Social Accounts in the sidebar, choose Add account and add the pages and profiles you post to. Most networks ask you to sign in and approve access, and X needs your own X API key. What each network needs.
  4. Group them by brand. Posting for more than one brand or client? Open Workspace Settings > Groups and put each one's profiles in a group of its own.
  5. Set your posting times. Add weekly time slots for your workspace, so "Add to queue" can drop new posts into the next free slot. Set up a posting schedule.
  6. Write your first post. Open the composer, pick the accounts and write the post once. Then adjust the version for any network that needs different text or media, and add images or video from the media library.
  7. Schedule it. Pick a date and time, or add the post to the queue, and it appears on the calendar. Not ready yet? Save it as a draft.
  8. Invite your team. Add teammates and give each one a role: admin, member, viewer or a custom team role. Roles and seats.

Write once, then adjust for each network

The composer starts with one post for every account you pick. You can then give each network its own version, with different text or media, so the post fits each platform instead of getting cut off.

Text limits are where cross-posting most often goes wrong. A caption that fits Instagram can be far too long for X or Bluesky:

NetworkText limitGood to knowSource
X280Links count as 23 characters and emoji as 2.X developer docs
Bluesky300Counted as the characters you see, so most emoji count as 1.Bluesky post schema

Mastodon500The default. Each server can set its own.Mastodon docs

Paste a draft into the free character counter to check its length before you schedule it.

Extras on some networks

  • A first comment on Instagram, Facebook Pages and LinkedIn.
  • Threads on X and Mastodon, for ideas that need more than one post.
  • Custom video thumbnails on Instagram, Facebook Pages, YouTube, Pinterest, Mastodon and Telegram.
  • Alt text for images, Instagram user tags and Collab posts, and LinkedIn document carousels.
  • Saved hashtag groups for the tags you use often.
  • Pre-recorded livestreams on Facebook Pages and YouTube.

Add images and video

The media library stores your images, GIFs and videos, including large uploads. You can also import files from Dropbox and Google Drive, find stock photos on Unsplash and GIFs on Giphy, and edit media in Adobe Express without leaving Postocial.

Storage depends on your plan: 10 GB on Starter, 25 GB on Premium, 50 GB on Agency and 50 GB on Unlimited.

Use Postocial on your phone

There's nothing to download from an app store. Postocial is an installable web app: add it to your home screen and it opens like any other app.

  • iPhone and iPad: open app.postocial.com in Safari, tap Share, then Add to Home Screen.
  • Android: open it in Chrome, open the menu and choose Add to Home screen or Install app.
  • Computer: Chrome and Edge offer to install it from the address bar.

Prefer a darker screen? Postocial has a dark mode too.
